The Crucifixion of Christ

Anyone that believes in Jesus knows that He died for us on the cross at Calvary however; most persons seem to focus on His birth and do not even understand he died for all of our sins so that we might have eternal life with him. While the birth of Jesus is a miraculous event in itself done by God it is not the most important time or event of Jesus Christ here on this earth.

The blood of the Lamb is so important and it’s safe to say that true followers of Jesus Christ know about the bloodshed on the cross by Jesus Christ. At the last Passover Jesus said “This cup is the new testament in my blood which is shed for you “(Luke 22:20).

Most true believers know the shedding of the blood is important but that is about as far as it goes because they don’t access and understand the true power and protection of the blood. But I ask you, what about the sprinkling of the blood? In Exodus 12:22 the Israelites are commanded to sprinkle blood from a lamb over the door. If it was not sprinkled then the death angel would not pass over that house. That blood represented the blood that Christ shed on the cross; there is power in Jesus Christ’s blood for all who believe. The fact that Jesus died on the cross and if He is Lord and Savior of your life then the blood that He shed has been sprinkled on our hearts and this is not only for the forgiveness of our sins but also protection and power. We no longer have to sacrifice or relay through a priest to be in communion with God or to come before God for anything for that matter. Jesus Christ is the risen sacrifice for us whose blood has been sprinkled on our souls so we may go boldly before the Lord without fear of judgment into Gods presence. We are given access to Him, without any sin to condemn us. We are protected, justified and loved because of the bloodshed on the cross and sprinkled over our

hearts. With the death of Jesus and His blood we have been forgiven of all sins and our spirits have been transformed.

The spirit of Jesus Christ indwells within us if we accept His call and free gift of salvation because His blood was shed and is sprinkled on our hearts. This is done by the spirit of Christ, the Holy Ghost. The death of Christ was such a powerful thing that in Matthew its says “ and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared to many. “ (Matthew 27:52-53). So because the Holy Ghost lives within us we are not to live in fear or condemnation any more.

The spirit of Christ is our guide our comforter and we are to listen and seek His truth. We are to trust in it and lean on the truth of the living word of Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost is our guide. The spirit of Christ the Holy Ghost is our power within to live out His word. Jesus’ word says “But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth “(Acts 1:8). Jesus not only died on the cross but He sent a guide a friend a protector a true power of His love and spirit.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was by no means respectful or an honor. Before Jesus was crucified He stood trial before His own chosen people and they chose to kill Jesus and let a known criminal free. Jesus never fought or tried to even lessen the brutality of what was happening because He loves us and knew it had to happen. He was beaten with a cat of nine tails, a whip that has nine strips of leather with bone, glass or something sharp in the tips, it is made to rip you open even expose your inner organs. They placed a crown of thorns upon His head and laughed and mocked Him. The Roman soldiers put a sign above His head “ And a superscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS “ ( Luke 23:38). It was Roman law that when someone was put on a cross that they be naked, anyone could see Him and anyone could throw urine, spit, curse, laugh, or mock Him. It was very degrading and humiliating and our Jesus Christ Lord and Savior who lived a sinless life and loves us enough to become our sin and give His life was made the laughing stock and a spectacle for everyone to see. He was completely humiliated.

Jesus Christ’s death is so important for so many reasons to believers of Jesus Christ, first and foremost the death of Jesus Christ was victory over the devil and his demons that want nothing more than for everyone to think that we still have to live under sin and its darkness, His death has freed us from sin. His death is also important because it fulfilled prophecies that were made hundreds of years earlier which prove Gods word to be true along with many other prophecies but the death of Christ being the most important of all. We have to realize it’s about Jesus, Gods grace and calling to us and dying to ourselves and living for Him because He died for us and is the way the truth and life. He arose from the dead three days later is alive and coming back for His bride!
